Children’s University

Childrens university logoLakeside Primary School are delighted to have joined York Children’s University (York CU). York CU is part of a national scheme designed to reward children’s participation in extra-curricular activities which are about learning new skills, having fun, building confidence and broaden horizons.

Children will be able to purchase a special Children’s University Passport for £2.50 from the school reception if they choose to be involved. They can then use this passport to collect stickers at York CU activities and build up a log of what they are doing.

To find out which places children can visit to collect stickers please look at Childrens University. Activities must be extracurricular and voluntary but can be linked to school e.g. after school clubs. School have asked York CU to sign-up some of the local clubs our children attend and many other public places such as Libraries and museums are already involved.

If your child attends an activity which is not yet involved in the scheme, please pass the activity leader a contact postcard (included with the passport), and ask them to contact York CU.

Throughout the year school will monitor your child’s progress through their passport and will present certificates in school. As they achieve the higher awards they will be invited to celebrate their achievements at a special Graduation ceremony at the University of York.

I hope your family will enjoy the learning opportunities associated with York CU. More information is enclosed or is available at Childrens University

Activities or clubs your child attends out of school may also be validated by York Children’s University. Just download the Learning Destination Postcard and pass it onto the organiser.
