Dear Parents,

 

As a fun way to complete the busy first term of Year 5, we have arranged a trip to the Grand Opera House to see their Christmas Pantomime of 'Jack and the Beanstalk'which stars a whole host of TV stars.  

 

The trip will take place on Wednesday 17th  December, and as the performance is in the afternoon, the children will not be back at school until approximately 4:30 depending on York traffic and the frequency of buses to Clifton Moor.

 

We have been fortunate enough to gain discounted tickets and the cost of the trip is GBP8.50 which also includes the cost of transport.  If you would like your child to take part in this fun and educational visit, please could you return the reply slip below with payment as soon as possible.

 

On the day, your child needs to come to school in their usual Lakeside uniform, and bring with them a packed lunch and drink as we will be eating at the theatre, and a tasty treat to nibble on during the performance!

 

If you have any questions regarding this trip, do not hesitate to see your child's class teacher.

Dear Parent

I am writing to let you know about the Cycling course for Year 5 children.

The first session, Level 1 is one day only. This will be playground based and will include signalling, balance, brakes and gears. This will take place on either 4th or 5th November. The children will be required to bring their bikes and/or helmets to school.

For the next six weeks after that, commencing Tuesday 11th November, the children will take Level 2 Cycling, this will be six sessions of cycle training out on the roads near to school, which will include teaching junctions, confidence and safety on roads, this will be done in small groups of children and an instructor and will last an hour. Again, children need to bring their bikes and/or helmets to school and must be appropriately dressed for all weathers.

The cost, per child, which includes both Levels, will be GBP14.50 per child.

This course is run independently by York City Council so therefore if you wish your child to take part you must pay for the course. If we do not receive signed forms or payment, then your child will not be able to participate. Please fill in the slip below to indicate if you would like your child to take part. Please return slips and money by Thursday 23rd October.
