 Lakeside Eco Club

The Eco Club is a group of pupils who are commited to looking after and improving our environment.  They are supported by teachers, parents and governors but the pupils take significant responsibility for the running of the team.
The eco-team have already successfully made posters to encourage everyone to turn off lights and save electricity.  They are in the process of installing water saving devices in all the toilet cisterns, investigating recycling packed-lunch waste and switching to eco friendly cleaning products.

Important Eco Update

The Eco - Committee are pleased to announce that we have been awarded the 'Eco Schools Green Flag'.  We are the first state primary school in York to reach this high standard.  This is the top award in recognition of all the hard work the school has done:

  •  We have a paper re-use and recycle system.
  • We have a 're-use, you know it makes sense' campaign to re-use drinks bottles.
  • We had an eco-friendly waste free lunch day.
  • We have turn it off signs on all our switches.

We will receive our 'Green Flag' which will be an actual flag which we can keep for 2 years.  We will then be reassessed and after 3 consecutive flags ( 6 years ) we will finally be allowed to keep our Green Flag status.

We are also able to display the logo on all our school headed paper.

A big thankyou to all the children, staff and parents for their support.  Keep up the good work!

Mrs Hill and the Eco-Committee.
